Our Program

Working together with Atlanta’s local homeless & foster care non-profits and local coffeeshop partners, we will hire, train and mentor youth through a 1 year transitional program, to empower, enable and encourage them to pursue their passions.

Projected 5 year span

2-month training program and continued leadership development

They’ll learn about the importance of good customer service, professionalism and effective communication within the team, and of course how to properly brew and serve high-quality coffee. Not everyone aspires to be a barista for their entire life. We’re simply providing the bridge for our employees to gain experience and learn valuable skills to make the transition.

After the youth are hired, they’ll go through both a soft and technical skills training program for their first two months, including an “internship” at a local coffeeshop partner, where they will hopefully receive a full-time offer for their remainder of the program. Throughout the year, we will provide continued education and leadership development opportunities.

Each of our youth will be paired with a dedicated mentor throughout their hire. Our mentorship program is much more than just a transaction between the mentor and mentee. Here, we focus on the relationship. They’ll be paired with a mentor that genuinely cares about their future, but first, them as a person. These mentors will meet weekly to provide anything from career coaching, help with housing, and create community, by surrounding them with friends who can help our youth grow into the best versions of themselves.

Depending on each youth’s specific developed skills and career desires, once they’ve hit their 1 year mark at one of our local coffeeshop partners, they’ll graduate from the program, and by working with their mentor and our Pour Over Love staff, they’ll have the choice to move onto their next career.

But the interaction won’t end there. They’ll then be part of our alumni program to continue receiving support and potentially become a mentor one day themselves.
